Michał has been managing a private practice for almost 20 years and has extensive professional experience in advising commercial entities, including shopping centres, retail chains, property developers, telecommunications and railway companies. He represents clients in courts, arbitration and before European tribunals (CJEU and ECtHR). In his court practice, he handles complex litigation cases for a breach of personal rights, intellectual property rights, as well as compensation and the establishment of the legal status.
He is a specialist in constitutional matters, in particular regarding the judiciary. He is an expert for such parliamentary groups, such as those on Constitutional Governance and the Reform of the Judiciary. He is a legal adviser to the Sejm Bureau of Research, the Marshal of the Senate and the Deputy Marshals of the Sejm in numerous legislative processes, an expert of the LIBE Committee (Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee) on the rule of law in Poland during the preparation of the report and hearings in the European Parliament, expert in proceedings before foreign courts and proxy of Supreme Court, Supreme Administrative Court and ordinary court judges before the CJEU and ECtHR. Co-founder of the #FreeCourts initiative (2017) and the Justice Defence Committee, KOS (2018) and member of the Professor Zbigniew Hołda Association. Together with the other co-founders of the #FreeCourts initiative, he was awarded for his public activity with Newsweek’s T. Torańska Award and TOK FM’s A. Laszuk Award and the European Citizen’s Prize for activities in line with the values enshrined in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, such as democracy, the rule of law and human rights. Attorney Michał Wawrykiewicz received the “Advocacy for Merits” award in 2021.
